Spring Dinner: Ann Gilleran, with the help of Judy Yamaguchi, is arranging Spring Dinner for Saturday, April 12 at the Richmond Yacht Club. Ann writes:

The details are still being worked out but so far we're looking at starting sometime around 4:30 p.m. We will have a potluck though we'll have to charge per person to cover what RYC is charging us to use the room and bar-b-que.If you are interested in attending you can call me (707)257-8106 or e-mail me at anvylin@earthlink.net. I'll get fliers out toward the end of March with all the details.

2003 Triton Racing Season

11 races this year; ten YRA races and the eleventh will be at the Plastic Classic Regatta, on July 19, which will also be the race for the Coveted Perpetual Trophy. Working sails only on that one, with a post race gala at the breathtaking Bay View Boat Club. This year the YRA has introduced a couple of new courses, in addition to the familiar Vallejo, City Front, Treasure Island, South Bay and dreaded Knox Course. The new courses are "North Bay" and "Island Tour" (not to be confused with Caribbean Circuit, Tritons aren’t doing that this year). To find out more about the new courses come to the Spring Dinner. At least I hope we’ll get some maps by then ;-)

It’s the BOM

In their February issue Latitude announced it’s best intentions to get the Boat Of the Month articles rolling again. Look it up on page 109. Latitude’s selection criteria are: "One Design Classes- The original intent of the BOMs was to revive interest in one design fleets whose numbers were declining. We still prefer that criteria to prifiling newer, healthier classes, and we still prefer keelboats to dinghies. But we’re open to suggestions." Another one is "no repeats of classes that have been covered within the last 20 years"

We got it made! Tritons were the BOM a quarter century ago in July, ’77 and as for the "in decline" part, hey we’ve been in that state for even longer. The spirits may be aging but the boats are tough.

OK, we need to get a BOM committee going. Call me (925-443-8952) or email me (suter@ix.netcom.com) if you want in. Let me put it another way. WHO WANTS TO SEE A PICTURE OF HIS/HER BOAT IN LATITUDE?

Let’s make it happen. At the Spring Dinner show what we’ve gotten together. I gather from the article that we need to inundate Latitude with a bunch of stuff before then.

We’re Nearly Broke L

Turns out we haven’t been very good about collecting dues the last couple of years and we’re running a bit short of that-which-greases-everything. Please fill out the membership application on the previous sheet and send it, with the check, to Ann Gilleran. In fact, I suspect that for most of us the form’s not all that important J
